Epic-Cure, a volunteer organization, food rescue and food distribution, founded in 2018 by Ken and Sunny Mulford, addresses food waste and food insecurity by saving products, dairy products to distribute to those who remain uncertain.

In the five years, Epic-Cure saved and distributed over 29 million pounds of food worth $ 60 million, distributed to 379,856 families.

“Currently, we function both as a food room for families, as well as as a food bench that serves food chamber, food and non -profit benches, in order to expand directly and indirectly,” said Ken Mulford for the record of ST Augustine, as presented in the annual report of the company 2024.

“The total collections of 2024 have been up to 9.8 million pounds of food, our largest volume since its inception, in children under 18 years of age and seniors of at least 60 years, who led to the level,” he said.

The 2024 Refd report of Epic-Cure showed that America loses about 38% of the foods it produces. According to the Department of Agriculture in the United States, one in six Americans remains uncertain eating, with minority children on one in five.

“Epic-clean is a food charity,” Mulford said. “We approach food waste and food insecurity through surplus foods to feed humans and animals.”

Mulford said that saving food on the way to landfills not only saves food, but avoids food becoming decomposed and emitting harmful greenhouse gases.

“Since our establishment six years ago, we have prevented almost 30 million kilograms of food from doing the environment,” he said.

Epic-current food sources from northeast Florida feeding, Farmshare, Southeastern Food Bank, USDA, food stores, food producers, food distributors, truck and logistics companies and local farms.

“We make more than 20 distributions of mobile foods with the help of volunteers,” he said. “Following the model of choice, our patrons only choose the food they want to consume, which probably reduces food waste.”

Identification is not necessary to receive food from the food bank, nor from the food chamber. Mulford said that the Epic-Cure food bank “is an excellent way to expand the number of people we serve.”

“Most of the food cars have a very limited logistics capacity for trucks with refrigerated, forklifts, etc., and inadequate cold storage to reach any real scale,” he said. “Our cold storage capacity offers food to other food room that they couldn’t.”

The Epic-Cure report shows that it has increased its food processing statistics from about 602,000 kilograms of food per month in January/February 2024 to over 1.02 million pounds per month in November and December.

“We have built partnerships with local non -profit, offering foods that contributed to digging their operating costs and serving their beneficiaries better,” the report shows. “We provided 1.1 million kilograms of food to other food banks, food room and non -profit from Florida, including northern food -Florida (187,052 kilograms), Calvary Life Center Food Pantry (98,098 kilograms), South -Bank Food Bank (93.468 l. and St. Johns Pantry (92,791 pounds).

About 20,492 people were fed on the Moon.

“This value was constant, ranging from 17,000 to 24,000,” said Milford. “While our food intake increased by 75% by the end of the year, food distributions remained constant at 20 per week (about 86 per month) due to the limited transport capacity.”

EPIC-CURE also offers free cooking courses for US military veterans and high school and high school students.

Mulford said that the epic-clean use of the rejected palette application, an “application similar to Uber” that redirects the trucks rejected by food trucks to become real-time donations, allowed Epic-clean to save 113,000 kilograms of food at the beginning of 2024 and 818,000 kilograms until the end of the year.

Epic-Cure has also collaborated with Wildflower Healthcare to launch Epic-Med, which collects supervised medical supplies and sustainable medical equipment from local medical care facilities, clinics and natural persons and offered them-grinded medical missions, non-governmental organizations and medical clinics that provide medical assistance.

“While partnerships were formed, the initiative had no measurable consistency and impact, Mulford said in his report.” We intend to address these deficiencies in 2025, but we expect this initiative to require a significant construction of the Foundation, including partnerships with medical and efficient assistance problems. “

The plans to complete a new 10,000 square meter kitchen, which will include two commercial teaching kitchens in St. Augustine are in progress.

“The facility will have high charging docks to host semi-power trailers for the greater and more efficient food intake for exit logistics,” he said. “The facility will also have a commercial refrigeration and freezing capacity to ensure the safe handling of significant quantities of products, dairy and meat.”

Located at 450 South Holmes Blvd. “Next to the new SR-312 connector, offering excellent access for refrigerated box trucks and semi-power trailers”, the construction is about to start at the end of this year.

“We are not content to rest,” Mulford said. “With the recent inflation that ravages in our community, it remains too much. We cannot accept that 38% of the food produced in the US is thrown while one in six people is uncertain, so we will continue to build our saving and food distribution record.”

Mulford said that, although he is proud of the achievements of Epic-Cure, he is just as proud of volunteers, community partners, members of the Board of Directors, donors and guarantees.

“The Epic-Cure’s ecosystem raises spirits, dignity and self-value,” he concluded. “We, the founders of the epic, are grateful, terrified and humble to sit on the shoulders of the giants.”
